Pulitzer Prize Lunch & Literature Series
In celebration of the hotel’s heritage and association with the famous Pulitzer Prize, Pulitzer Amsterdam will be hosting a number of intimate gatherings with Pulitzer-acclaimed writers throughout 2019, as part of the Lunch & Literature Series.
The series also aims to celebrate the life of its much-loved founder who was the grandson of newspaper publisher and Pulitzer Prize founder, Joseph Pulitzer. Peter Pulitzer touched many hearts during his lifetime and described the development of the hotel as a “labor of love”.
Kicking off the series on Saturday 23rd February is Pulitzer Prize-winning author and poet, Tyehimba Jess, who won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for his book Olio which focuses on the story behind America’s blues, work songs and church hymns.
The literary gathering includes:
- Glass of cava
- Three-course lunch (with meat, fish and vegetarian options)
- A glass of wine, water, coffee and tea
- A reading , encounter and chance to ask questions to Tyehimba Jess
Upon arrival, guests can enjoy a refreshing glass of cava, before settling in to listen to Tyehimba Jess discuss his work and career, detailing how and why the world-renowned prize is so important in the world of literature. Aiming to be informal and relaxed, guests will also have the chance to ask the writer any burning questions and open the floor up to discussion, focusing on topics that relate to the literary world over lunch from the hotel’s restaurant, Jansz.
